I'm Boring

It's been a week since my last post and I really have nothing special to write about.

I saw Zodiac last Saturday and it was very well done. It was a straight-forward exploration of the fear and obsession of the West Coast during the late 60s. It didn't really go into the whys of the obsession for Gyllenhaal's character, but it was still interesting to watch a man's life crumble somewhat because he couldn't focus on anything but the case. The most interesting part of the history of Zodiac is what we don't know. It's not the facts or the murders themselves, it's the holes in the case and the course of time during which it occurred. It's interesting how much "circumstantial" evidence there was without it being enough to charge anyone with the murders. The coincidences at the end of the movie and during the textual summary are interesting, too. They point in one suspect's direction overwhelmingly. It was also interesting to think that had this happened in the present times, the guy almost surely would have been caught as a result of DNA analyses and forensic methods used today.

Robert Downey, Jr. was really good as was Gyllenhaal. Mark Ruffalo has turned out to be a pretty decent actor, himself.

On Sunday, I sat around and did NOTHING. I hit Target for the usual week's groceries, but otherwise I sat inside and watched The Sopranos and random TV. It was nice to just relax and sit around. I found a new place to eat on the way to Target -- two bucks for a Chicago hotdog and fries. It was good, too.

I've been a lazy bum lately. I haven't worked out much at all and I think I'm going to cancel my gym membership soon because the last two or three months here I'll be out of town so much over the weekends (almost every two weeks) that I won't have enough time to utilize the gym to make it worthwhile. I will also start riding my bike much more often after work instead of going to the gym. So, I don't really need to spend all that money on the gym.

I'm working on a logo for the Hittin' Misses, Bly's rollerderby team. I cannot wait to get back to Athens so I can be more involved in derby. It's super fun to watch and the girls in the league are all pretty cool people. I think my duty will be to tape the rope lights outlining the track to the floor. They get knocked around pretty good during bouts so there has to be a couple people to retape as needed. I'm also thinking of good designs for Mustang Sassy shirts -- that's Bly's derby name. They each have an alias for derby. I will soon wear nothing but derby shirts on the weekends.
